A fresh and vibrant destination
Legal & General were looking for a bold and creative way to transform the Kingland Crescent area of Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre. This regeneration project aimed to raise national awareness and build local pride in a fresh and lively space.
The area has been longing for regeneration for a number of years and is the epitome of a struggling high street. L&G needed an agency to design a strong brand identity for Kingland Crescent and to present it as a destination high street with a fresh mix of leisure and retail.
Building a community
In collaboration with Mega, Make Studio undertook extensive research to better understand how other UK regeneration areas have landed well in the community, and made a positive impact. We knew that the branding had to be sensitive to the area but also stand out, so we did a deep dive research into Poole itself for inspiration and potential synergies.
We also focused on London regeneration projects where new local identities and well-crafted brand launches have helped to reap financial reward for developers and businesses as well as creating new, thriving communities.
A brand to elevate a town
We threw out the usual seaside design tropes and rewrote the script, giving Kingland a confidence that revives it as a unique shopping destination. The brand utilises contrasting colours and shapes to create a striking, unapologetic and inviting development that celebrates the exciting new chapter for the area.
Kingland has rooted the development in its heritage and brought a sense of quality and elevation. The regeneration and branding is a significant leap forward, and the local community and visiting public have given it their resounding approval. The branding helped result in 100% occupancy of the vacant retail units which has been covered in the national press and TV.
